Heat the oven to 400F. Mix mayonnaise, shallot, lemon juice, parsley, one tablespoon of chives (keep the rest for garnish), mustard, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.

Brush oil or butter on the baking dish to prevent halibut from sticking. Put halibut filets in baking tray. Evenly pour mayonnaise over halibut filets.

Be careful not to overcook while you bake for 15-20 minutes. To golden the top of the fish, turn on the top broiler for 1-2 minutes before cooking. The fish is done when opaque and flaky.

Remove the halibut from the oven and sprinkle the remaining chives on top before serving.
