Heat the oven to 375°F. Unpackage the cod and arrange it on a dish or chopping board. Pat excess wetness with a paper towel.

Put the fish in a casserole, baking dish, or sheet pan. Season each fillet with sea salt, garlic powder, and black pepper on both sides.

Heat a small skillet on the stove over medium heat. Use butter, olive oil, and fresh garlic.

Sauté garlic on the heat for 2–4 minutes until fragrant but colorless. If the garlic is closely monitored, increase the heat to medium high.

Remove garlic from the stove before it turns golden brown. The idea is to open up garlic taste without overcooking.

Spread garlic butter on cod. Coat cod with garlic butter using the back of a spoon. Bake cod till it reaches 145°F, 12-15 minutes.

Insert a meat thermometer into the fish's thickest portion to check temperature.

Have fun with lemon slices and your favorite sides! I prefer adding chopped fresh parsley and red pepper flakes to fish.
