Ingredients
- 2 to 4 ribeye steaks bone-in or boneless
- sea salt
- black pepper
- garlic powder
Instructions
- To get rid of any extra moisture, take the ribeye out of its package and use paper towels to dry both sides. Add sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder to both sides of each steak. If you have time, put the steaks on a plate or baking sheet and put them in the fridge for at least 15 minutes.
- This will chill them and let the salt work its way deeper into the meat to make it more soft. Set your oven to High grill when you’re ready to grill the steaks. For five to ten minutes, let the oven heat up. The top part of the oven needs to be very hot so that the steaks get a nice sear on the outside.
- Put a wire rack on the second or third-from-top shelf. If you use the top shelf, fat could splash up and hit the hot element, starting an oven fire. If they aren’t already there, take the steaks out of the fridge and put them on a big baking sheet or a grill pan.
- Put the steaks on the rack near the top of the oven grill. For medium-rare steaks that are about 2 inches thick, cook for 5 to 7 minutes on each side. For medium-rare, bone-in ribeye steaks may need a little longer, about 6 to 8 minutes per side.
- To get medium-done, broil for 7 to 8 minutes per side. To get well-done, broil for 8 to 10 minutes per side. Move the steaks lower in the oven if you want them well-done. This will keep the outside from burning.
- If you want your steaks medium rare, broil them for 4 to 5 minutes per side. If you want them medium done, broil them for 5 to 7 minutes per side.
- To make sure the steak is cooked just right, put a digital thermometer into the largest part of it and check the temperature inside.
- Before serving, put the steaks on a cutting board or a plate for each person and let them rest for at least 5 to 10 minutes.
