Shrimp Egg Foo Young Recipe – Learn with Experts:- There is a tasty sauce to put on top of the patties in this egg foo young recipe. This recipe is very special. I learned it when I worked at a Chinese restaurant in high school to pay for my red 1966 VW bug. The dish is the fine egg foo young I’ve ever had, even though the recipe card is torn and has spots on it. Put the egg patty on top of the steamed rice and drizzle with sauce.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces fresh bean sprouts
  • 1 cup cooked small shrimp
  • 4 large eggs
  •  cup thinly sliced green onions
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Chinese cooking wine, sherry, or apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

Directions

  1. In a big bowl, mix the bean sprouts, shrimp, eggs, green onions, and garlic powder together until everything is well mixed.
  2. Set a pan on medium heat and add the oil. To make a patty, add about 1/2 cup of the egg mix to the pan.
  3. Do it again to add more patties to the pan. Fry patties in batches for about 4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  4. Make the sauce at the same time: In a skillet over medium-low heat, mix together the chicken broth, cornstarch, sugar, cooking wine, and soy sauce.
  5. Simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce gets thick. Put sauce on top of the burgers.
