  • 1/2 pound penne pasta
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon seafood seasoning, such as Old Bay®, or to taste
  • 3 cups shredded sharp white Cheddar cheese
  • 1 (5.2 ounce) package Garlic & Herbs Soft Spreadable Cheese, such as Boursin®, broken into chunks
  • salt to taste
  • 1 dash hot sauce, or to taste
  • 2 ounces lump crab meat

Instructions

  1. Bring a big pot of water that has been just mildly salted to a boil. Cook the pasta in the boiling water, stirring it regularly, for approximately twelve minutes, or until it is cooked but still firm to the biting. Drain and maintain a warm temperature.
  2. As this is going on, put the butter and flour into a pot and set it over medium heat. During the melting of the butter, whisk the flour to make a roux. While whisking continually, gradually add the milk and continue to cook for three to four minutes. Remove the milk from the heat after it has reached a boil. Whisk the Old Bay seasoning, Cheddar cheese, and Boursin cheese together until the cheeses are melted and the sauce is smooth. Stir in the Boursin cheese. Use salt and hot sauce to season the food to your liking.
  3. Mix in the pasta that has been drained, and then carefully fold in the crab meat.
